About Me

I have been in the construction industry for over 10 years.  I have designed many types of projects from small additions and remodels to luxury homes and commercial spaces.  My passion is within new construction.  I enjoy selecting plans, finishes, materials, and colors for new homes, and working with families to consult with the selections they make to complete their "dream" home.  I feel I have an edge when working with general contractors over other designers because of my construction background and experience.  I understand the project schedules and work hard to meet deadlines to keep the project running smoothly.  I also understand the frustrations homeowners feel when they are making selections for their new home.  They are making selections from many different showrooms, and often have a hard time making the final decision because they can't visualize what it will look like in their home.

I am a working mom of two small children, so I understand the need for function and beauty all in one.  I understand the challenges of finding items and accessories that look nice, but are also functional to a home where there are working parents, lively children, pets, and very busy lifestyles.  Furniture and accessories not only have to be aesthetically pleasing in a space and create a warm atmosphere, but when there are children and pets in the space, they also have to be durable and functional.  I understand this importance and love to work with families to find the right pieces for them to help make their "House" a "Home."

Born and raised in Rolesville, North Carolina, I have always had an affinity for elements of structural design and aesthetics. I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and The Living Arts College (formerly School of Communication Arts) with a diploma in Interior Design.  I have successfully passed Part 1 of the CQRID Professional exam for interior designers, and will hopefully pass part 2 to become fully certified through the CQRID before this year is over.

I began my career by partnering with my husband, David Williams, Jr., to develop Williams Custom Building, Inc.  I design custom homes, remodels, & additions, select finishes and materials and consult with clients throughout the selection process of their custom home, remodel, and/or addition. In 2008, I made the decision to branch off from Williams Custom Building, Inc. and launched my own interior design firm, Rachael Williams Design, LLC.  I graduated at the top of my class with a perfect 4.0 GPA from The Living Arts College, and have several design projects showcased in their facility.  I hold a position on the advisory board for the Interior Design program at The Living Arts College where I assist and advise on the program's content.

My passion for interior design is reflected in each and every home, addition, or remodel I work on.  I work hard to incorporate each builder's "signature" design within the homes they build, and create the "Wow!" factor they are looking for to entice buyers.
